Abducted Teachers and Pupils

The distressing news of the abduction of school teachers and pupils from the Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State is profoundly saddening and deeply troubling. No one deserves to be kidnapped or subjected to such cruel and inhumane treatment. Such acts of violence and inhumanity against innocent individuals who are simply going to school in search of their daily livelihood, whether as teachers shaping lives or pupils striving to build a brighter future through education, are utterly unacceptable and condemnable.

No human being, regardless of age or circumstance, deserves to be kidnapped, threatened, or subjected to any form of cruelty. These victims are not just faceless statistics; they are cherished parents, siblings, spouses, and children, members of families and communities who were peacefully going about their daily lives. The teachers were dedicated professionals committed to shaping young minds and imparting knowledge, while the pupils were eager learners striving to build a brighter future through education. Their abduction is not only a personal tragedy for their families but also a grave blow to the entire community and the nation’s educational progress.

We extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt empathy to the victims and their families, who are undoubtedly enduring unimaginable pain and uncertainty. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this harrowing time. We join them in hope and faith, earnestly praying for the safe and swift release of all those abducted. It is our collective responsibility as a society to stand united in condemning such acts of terror and to support efforts aimed at securing the freedom and safety of these innocent individuals.

Tragically, the situation is made even more grievous by the gruesome murder of one of the abducted teachers Mr. Michael Oyedokun. We solemnly mourn the passing of this dedicated educator and extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. We pray that God grants them the strength, courage, and resilience to bear this profound loss and find some measure of peace amidst their grief.

In these difficult times, may God’s protection and mercy be upon all those affected and everyone else. May He watch over the abductees, their families, and the communities shaken by this tragedy. Let us all remain vigilant, compassionate, and united in our resolve to ensure that such acts of violence are eradicated and that education remains a safe and empowering path for every child and teacher in Nigeria.

May God protect everyone and keep them safe.

God bless Nigeria.
